Igneous is a design made from carbon powder and using Custhom's innovative process of hand-foiling wallpapers, creates a unique distressed or highly polished finish in a wide range of metallic hues, imitating the crystallization of igneous rocks formed through the cooling and solidification of magma or lava. The Hayward fabric is of the highest quality cotton, flax mix. Working with a British mill, whose craftsmen have been weaving textiles in the UK since 1720. The decision to express the design as a woven fabric lay in the process. As Brutalist buildings were designed with strong geometric forms, it seemed apt that the designs should be created in a similar way, using the warp and weft to form pattern through a grid system; the contemporary digital pattern given depth, while retaining its precision, using a traditional process. The Forest Hill Collection A collection of hand printed wallpapers, linens and velvets created in collaboration by South East London based design practices 2LG Studio and Custhom. Designed as a series of floral textures creating layers for interiors - they were inspired by classic florals, re-imagining them for contemporary interiors and architectural spaces. The collaboration seeded itself two years ago when 2LG began renovating their Forest Hill home and discovered a fragment of old floral wallpaper beneath several layers of paint and paper.
