Contour: observing how people move, play and behave when adhering to the rules of the drawn line sparked our interest in exploring boundaries, visual communication and behaviour in recreational spaces. This inquiry resulted in Contour, a graphic exploration of line and movement, capturing the energy and playfulness of people navigating sports courts. Created at two scales as screen printed wallpaper and woven fabrics.

The Forest Hill collection was inspired by the discovery of a fragment of old floral wallpaper found during the renovation of 2LG’s South East London home, beneath several layers of paint and paper. IGNEOUS : Igneous is a design made from carbon powder and using Custhom’s innovative process of hand-foiling wallpapers, creates a unique distressed or highly polished finish in a wide range of metallic hues, imitating the crystallization of igneous rocks formed through the cooling and solidification of magma or lava. The pattern is non-repetitive down the length of the wallpaper. Printed on to durable non-woven FSC certified wallpaper.

OBLIQUE: This collection was developed through the dissection and reduction of blocks of text. Interested in how non-verball communication is evolving and questioning the importance of physical paper letters, the studio took influence from the mail art movement in Berlin in the early 1970’s. Visually, this wallpaper represents a web of information that has evolved into the interweaving of lines in irregular blocks which gently touch and overlap. Explored through print and woven cloth, the oblique collection is a screen-printed wallpaper on wide width non-woven paper and a collection of woven fabrics.

The simplicity of this design comes from our admiration of nature. Obsessed with propagating Ceropegia woodii, noting the fragility of each stem yet the strength and resilience to continue to grow, inspired our intrigue and motivation for this design. ACCENT:There is something quite magical about living in a busy city and finding public buildings which hold so much history but feel so contemporary. Finding solace in buildings like the Barbican Centre, both inside and out, it’s a place we really enjoy to wander within, to walk the stairs and admire the subtle brass details or curved walls. The options for layout of this design came from that very feeling of being engulfed by such vast geometric concrete forms, from every view point, a different composition. We wanted to capture the feeling of wonder and curiosity in this design, which can be hung in 3 varying patterns as a result of the scale and composition of the design, all highlighted by metallic detail.

OFFSET : The offset wallpaper collection captures our interest in typography.. Playing with an invisible grid, half captured forms and empty spaces. This design takes a simple circle and explores how it can be sliced, stretched and reformed to create an energetic composition of block colours and metallic shapes.

OFF GRID: Since our daughter came into the world, we have readdressed how we use our time. We’ve walked a lot more, sought out pockets of green space and spent more time simply being present in these spaces. Observing natures changing face and taking pleasure in this time to focus. We continue to come back to the joy we have found in the walled gardens of South East London. The simple structures that fame an abundance of colour and texture which has influenced the form and perspective of this design.
