Using a range of stoneware clays, CUSTHOM has developed this breakfast set over the last few years, paying attention to the small details, exploring the form and investing time in the materials they choose to make with.
Jemma Ooi, co-founder at CUSTHOM, comments: “We want these pieces to be enjoyed, shared, loved, gifted and cherished. To hold your favourite flavours, to encourage traditions, or to be the starting point to newly formed rituals and simple pleasures.”
The range includes a milk jug, large jug, cup, plate and bowl which can be purchased alone or in sets. COUNTER is a continuation of the tableware ranges that CUSTHOM have been designing over the past few years which make the most of bold graphic lines in a way that is a statement on your table yet subtle enough to compliment each piece and their edible contents.
The pieces are slip cast in London, made from stoneware in small batches. The hand painted details around the rim of each item in the collection is created by glaze in a complimentary colour to the body of each piece.

Research and explorations into the benefits of a tactile surface have lead us to develop a hard wearing stitch technique using thread through paper. Working with a British embroidery house, we are able to embroider directly onto non-woven fire retardant wallpaper, using polyester for high shine to ceramic cotton threads for a flat Matt finish.
The needlework provides a delicate and intricate craftsmanship to the wall coverings. Inviting to the touch and adding tonal elements of a single thread colour dependent on the angle of the viewer. This process has considerably less wastage than any print method and is solely made in the United Kingdom.

The Forest Hill Collection A collection of hand printed wallpapers, linens and velvets created in collaboration by South East London based design practices 2LG Studio and Custhom.
Designed as a series of floral textures creating layers for interiors - they were inspired by classic florals, re-imagining them for contemporary interiors and architectural spaces.
The collaboration seeded itself two years ago when 2LG began renovating their Forest Hill home and discovered a fragment of old floral wallpaper beneath several layers of paint and paper. They shared this moment with Custhom and it began to grow into a full collection as the tiny floral stayed in all of their minds.

Taking a playful approach to colour and form, the two London-based design studios are looking to add a little extra joy to living spaces this winter. The collection has been designed to add into the eclectic nature of how we shop for, and curate, our homes; each piece can be enjoyed on its own or as part of a set to quietly elevate our everyday life.
The collection entails tumblers, highballs and a vase with three accompanying screen prints. Staying true to CUSTHOM’s ethos of considerate making, the vessels are formed from recycled glass supplied by revered glassware brand, LSA International. Locally-sourced clear jars and bottles are sorted, crushed and heated in the furnace until molten. The skilled glassblower gathers, shapes and then blows the molten glass into a mould to form the tumbler. Air bubbles will occur as part of this 100% recycled and handmade process.

Custhom have heavily embroidered onto Kvadrat fabric to upholster our simple solid Oak daybed. The mattress and bolster from the daybed have been embroidered using a chain stitch labyrinth technique creating an undulating surface to the textile and areas of contrasting dense stitching and quilted felt, this is something the studio have been developing for some time in their wall coverings collections and are excited to see it as a softer and more exaggerated
substrate.

Taking influence from the mail art movement in Berlin in the early 1970’s a web of information has evolved into the interweaving of lines in irregular blocks which gently touch and overlap. The collection entails tumblers, highballs and a vase with three accompanying screen prints. Staying true to CUSTHOM’s ethos of considerate making, the vessels are formed from recycled glass supplied by revered glassware brand, LSA International. Locally-sourced clear jars and bottles are sorted, crushed and heated in the furnace until molten. The skilled glassblower gathers, shapes and then blows the molten glass into a mould to form the tumbler. Air bubbles will occur as part of this 100% recycled and handmade process.
